Swithun Wells - Feast Day is along with that of the
other thirty-nine martyrs, is on 25 October. Swithun Wells was born in 1536 and executed in 1591 for allowing Mass to be said at his home in Holborn. He was canonised as one of The Forty Martyrs by Pope Paul VI in 1970. In a church in London there is a statue of St Swithun Wells |
