St Andrews

Welcome to St Andrew's - North Baddesley

Within the 3 Rivers Pastoral Area, the church of St Andrew's  serves the Roman Catholic community living in North Baddesley, Chilworth, towards Rownhams and Valley Park.

Our Parish Priest is Father George Lyons who also serves our sister church of St Joseph's in Romsey.

Pam and Ivan Taylor celebrated their Ruby wedding anniversary on September 14th 2008 with members of their family. A blessing was given by Father George during mass on Sunday 5th October at St Andrews church in North Baddesley. A bouquet of flowers was presented to Pam on behalf of the parish of St Josephs and St Andrews.

25th anniversary mass for Malcolm and Lesley Foster

Not quite sure what to say about my parents and the church, but I do know my mam and dad have been very involved within that parish for over ten years, they both participated in the offertory on Sunday, I'm sure dad takes it in turn with others to do readings, although this time Mrs. Wright, and another man read.

My older brother Luke and myself took the bread and wine up to the alter and in the pictures you can see my younger brother Adam on the altar.

My dads mother and my mams mother and father all came down from Cardiff, Wales to celebrate this occasion which was a very pleasant day.

someone from the parish gave my parents a gorgeous bunch of flowers and a beautiful cake which was enjoyed by all the parish after the mass.

Father George made it a very special day for all the family. xx

About our Patron Saint - St. Andrew - Feast Day is ....

Brother of St. Peter and one of the twelve apostles. Crucially it was he who led Peter to Jesus: ‘We have found the Messiah’ he told Peter. He was a fisherman before Jesus called him to become a ‘fisher of men’. He came from Bethsaida in Galilee and was eventually martyred in Greece where he was crucified on a saltire (X-shaped) cross. It was this which led to the saltire becoming adopted as an emblem on the Scottish flag after St. Andrew was made the country’s patron saint. It is thought that he preached the Gospel in Asia Minor and Greece, and possibly even in Russia and Poland, after Jesus’ resurrection.

In our church there is a wooden carving of St Andrew being crucified on  saltire (X-shaped) cross.
